Born in Nigeria and brought to the UK under harrowing circumstances, Bilal was a victim of human trafficking as a child, leading him into a life of uncertainty and hardship. After enduring a childhood in the foster care system, Bilal found himself living on the streets, facing the harsh realities of homelessness and the constant threat of unlawful arrests due to his statelessness. Despite these overwhelming challenges, Bilal has fought tirelessly to build a life for himself, finding solace and purpose in the sport of boxing.

As he prepares for the biggest fight of his career—a British title eliminator on October 12th—Bilal’s journey is far from over. Despite his achievements, including being a former ABA light-middleweight champion, he remains stateless, with no passport and no citizenship. This lack of status continues to hinder his ability to secure long-term financial stability, a situation made even more pressing as he works to support his young family.
